MCAL/NCS Sportsmanship Award

In the fall of 2008, the Marin County Athletic League instituted a Sportsmanship Award. The award was modeled after the North Coast Section Program which was established in 1996.

At the end of each season of sport, each head coach votes for the school who in their opinion exhibited the best sportsmanship during the season. Each athletic director and principal also votes for the award. The coordinator of the program is Asst. Commissioner Rich Woodall who states that since 1996 very few NCS Sportsmanship Banners have been awarded as few NCS leagues have adopted the program. The MCAL is proud to be among the few who are spotlighting good sportsmanship in all sports.
